MidHudson News: Local officials petition PSC to lower fixed electric rates

CLP submits letter, signed by 131 elected public officials, to the Public Service Commission urging them to reduce Utility fixed rates.

“The commission has a perfect opportunity right now, in the Central Hudson rate case, to reform this company’s rates, which have been a problem for a really long time,” explained CLP Director Jen Metzger. “Central Hudson’s fixed charges are the highest in the state, at $24 and they are proposing to raise them to $24, which is up to five times higher than in other states. In most cities across the country, those charges average between $5 and $10; in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, the are between $3 and $6.”
